Prefer to catch the island vibes of San Pedro (Ambergris Caye) or Caye Caulker for a few hours? Maybe check out these two islands for a return trip? We have a great way to do it.
Ambergris Caye (flight time approx. 20 mins) with the main town of San Pedro, is the largest of all the Cayes in Belize. This is the centre of it all, with cafes and gift shops. The beaches in town are lined with restaurants and bars serving local and international cuisine, cold Belikin beers and tropical cocktails. You can even take a class in traditional chocolate making. Snorkelling and diving are available to the famous Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley (we suggest you try to book this in advance and tell them you are coming on a cruise). Hire a golf cart and explore the island’s north and south ends. There is even a Maya site Marco Gonzalez on the south end of the island. Sailboats, windsurfing and kitesurfing are also available. But most of all, relax for the day and enjoy the warmth and friendliness of the Belizean people.
Caye Caulker (flight time approx 15 mins) is the closer of the two islands to Belize City and is famous for its laid back lifestyle. Unwind in a hammock on the beach with a delicious rum drink, explore the sandy streets, buy Belizean souvenirs, and eat in one of the many local restaurants. We suggest trying delicious local fare such as rice and beans with stewed chicken, or freshly caught fish. Snorkelling and diving are within easy reach (again, we suggest you try to book this in advance and tell them you are coming on a cruise). Windsurfing and kitesurfing are also options, as is just hanging out at the iconic Split as the Reggae plays and you soak up the sun.
The easiest way to get to either destination is to book your flights in advance with us and then take a five minute taxi ride to the Tropic Air terminal at the Belize City Municipal Airport (TZA). Flights to both islands leave regularly. We also suggest you book your return flight at the same time allowing a two hour window to return to your assigned tender departure time (this is to allow security screening at the port). We also suggest that you take note that your ship time may not be the same as shore time and to make the necessary adjustments.
You can book your San Pedro or Caye Caulker tickets in advance via this website or by emailing us at [email protected].
