Ramp Agent - Belize City (TZA)

Tropic Air is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of a Ramp Agent at Tropic’s Municipal (TZA) Station.

Reports To: Station Manager

*45-hour workweek; hourly rate subject to skill level and experience

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide support to passenger luggage handling, marshalling of aircrafts, movement of aircraft stairs, aircraft battery plugging and unplugging, boarding, deplaning, mail bags receipt, cargo receipt and movement to storage.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Marshall Aircrafts as required.
    • Loading/unloading of passenger bags, cargo and mail in a safe, timely and responsible manner.
    • Sort baggage and cargo for proper and easier distribution by Cargo Agents.
    • Pull, connect, disconnect and store the auxiliary power unit or battery of the aircraft.
    • Place and remove aircraft stairs for the boarding and deplaning of passengers.
    • Prepare a lost and found report for any items left in the aircraft or terminal and assist with locating misplaced luggage.
    • Comply with all safety procedures and airline policies.
    • Other duties assigned from time to time.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum:

    • High School Diploma
    • Must have at least one (1) year of recent and successful employment experience in relevant field

    • Associates Degree
    • 2+ years of recent and successful employment experience in customer service and relevant field.

Aircraft Engineer at Tropic's Maintenance Department in San Pedro, Belize (SPR)

Tropic Air is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position for an Aircraft Engineer at Tropic’s Maintenance Department in San Pedro Town, Belize. 

Reports To: Assistant Director of Maintenance

Position Overview: The Engineer is to support the Senior Engineers with executing tasks critical to the daily operations of the company, by ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft needed to deliver the movement of passengers and cargo safely and efficiently.

DUTIES:

  • Brief the Senior Engineers on any major discrepancies regarding Tropic Air’s Maintenance Practices.
  • Work with the Senior Avionics Engineer to establish corrective actions based on Audit findings or Occurrence Reports.
  • Adhere to Tropic Air’s Corporate and Maintenance Policies.
  • Ensure the completion of required documentation for record retention.
  • Recommend improvements to the Approved Maintenance Program to the Senior Engineers.
  • Maintain standard engineering practices such as work card completion, general husbandry, workplace cleanliness and FOD prevention/rectification measures.
  • Recommend to the Assistant Director of Maintenance and the Senior Engineers any improvements in working conditions, practices and procedures which may result in an improvement in efficiency and/or morale.
  • Report occurrences, discrepancies, and trends to the Senior Avionics Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out maintenance and inspection of aircraft as defined in the Tropic Air’s MMOE, AMP and published procedures, using tools and approved test equipment on aircraft and associated equipment.
  • Ensure correct completion of paperwork and forms as required in the MMOE or published procedures.
  • Keep the Assistant Director of Maintenance and Senior Engineers informed of the requirements and issues.
  • Comply with schedule maintenance on the company’s aircrafts IAW approved maintenance program.
  • Make repairs, troubleshoot problems, conduct inspections and make upgrades to aircraft.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and protocols.
  • Install, modify, troubleshoot, and upgrade avionics/electrical systems in accordance with BDCA approved/acceptable data and Manufacturers Maintenance Manuals.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of the relevant regulation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent technical and vocational training.
  • Successful working experience on Cessna Caravan C208B.
  • Holder of a Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License.
  • Advance working knowledge of BCAR 145, OPS 01, Human Factors and Safety Management Systems.

Web & System Administrator - IT Department - San Pedro, Belize (SPR)

Tropic Air is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of a Web & System Administrator at Tropic’s IT Department in San Pedro Town, Belize. 

Reports To: IT Manager

Pay Grade; Level: *40-hour workweek; hourly rate subject to skill level and experience.

Primary Function: The Web & System Administrator is responsible for maintaining and optimizing Tropic Air’s IT infrastructure. The role holder will ensure the efficient and secure operation of computer systems, networks, and servers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop system access, monitoring, control, and recovery policies
  • Test disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; and maintaining documentation
  • Monitoring web systems performance
  • Maintaining web environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades and monitoring system performance
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and upgrades
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality
  • Manage and troubleshooting network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Collaborate with senior administrators to optimize network performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with the IT helpdesk to resolve user issues in a timely manner
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Perform routine data backups and ensure data integrity
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills and testing
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Prepare reports on system performance and incident resolutions
  • Implement and enforce security policies and protocols
  • Monitor system logs for security breaches and unauthorized access
  • Participate in security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technology solutions that support business objectives

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience working with computer systems, networking, and IT infrastructure.
  • Experience administrating Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience managing and implementing virtualization technologies (e.g, VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Working knowledge of website operations and their underlying technologies.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Eager to learn and adapt to innovative technologies
  • Thorough understanding of the threat and attack landscape, attack vectors, vulnerabilities, and how they are leveraged by malicious actors
  • Any relevant certifications (e.g, CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Associate) is a plus.
